My name is Kenya Carter and I’m a flautist and music producer. Music has been the love of my life for as long as I can remember. My most of my life consisted of playing and writing music.
I started playing the flute at nine years old. I played throughout high school and some of college.

In 2015, I became the Drum Major of my high school band, and attended prestigious summer camps based at the University of Central Florida and Florida State University.

I’ve performed a solo at the end of each school year since 4th grade. The discipline and hard work I put into the flute led me to be accepted into the University of Central Florida College of Music in 2016. From 2016-2018 I majored in Music Performance.

Unfortunately, my time at the College of Music had to come to an end, and I chose a major that was more fitting for me: Entertainment Management. I’ve realized that I enjoy the business side of music. I’d rather be behind the scenes than on stage. I’d love to overall manage the Performing Arts, specifically with music.
I still love the flute, and today I see it as a hobby and a way of self expression rather than a career.
Since starting college I’ve been composing some of my own music. Using Garageband, I’ve been making short tracks for myself and my friends. I really hope to expand this hobby and learn new things in this new major.
